Caribou Mountain via Caribou Trail (Bog Rd Trailhead, West Bethel, ME)

INTRODUCTION:

This little adventure was nothing fancy . . . just a simple ‘out and back’ to Caribou Mountain from the Bog Road trailhead near West Bethel, Maine.  The round-trip mileage was about 6-miles.  This 2,840 ft. mountain is situated at the far northern end of the Caribou-Speckled Mountain Wilderness.

Another trip to Maine—great! It looks like maybe just a few leaves are starting to change color. I've never been to Maine during fall color season but I've heard that it's glorious. Just another location for the bucket list...

Beautiful views and photos, as always, John.

I don't know what to say about the biting bugs; apparently they feel safe and protected in the wilderness! Ugh.

Hi Rita,

Yup, another adventure in Maine! Several hiking destinations in western Maine are less than an hour’s drive from my home, and so I hike there somewhat frequently.

And further regarding the biting bugs that I encountered at the wilderness border, maybe they are “stationed” there and “weaponized” to fend off the human “invaders” into their domain?! :-)

Thanks once again, Rita, for reading and commenting on my blog postings.
