Cascades along an Unnamed Brook near Sawyer Rock Picnic Site (Bartlett, NH)

INTRODUCTION:

Just a short distance east of the USFS’s Sawyer Rock Picnic Site near Bartlett, NH is an unnamed brook.  Hmm . . .  seems like Sawyer Rock Brook would be an obvious choice for a name, but that’s just my opinion.😉

Anyway, on other occasions, I have bushwhacked along this unnamed brook while en route to other destinations. (Click HERE to access a blog report that I posted several years ago about one such adventure.)  On each of my previous treks, the flow of water was unimpressive.  Nonetheless, I did see indications along the drainage which hinted at the potential for cascades that could be picturesque following a significant rain event or during snowmelt season.

In mid-November 2020, following a couple of rainy days, I meandered up this unnamed brook for a few tenths of a mile to see if there were any cascades worth photographing.  As it turned out, there were indeed a few cascades that were small, but “photo-worthy” nonetheless.

Below is a map showing the location of the unnamed brook and other surrounding landmarks in the nearby vicinity.

Hi John,

Well, unlike your last post, this one DID show up on my email, and I'm glad it did!

I always enjoy seeing eastern hardwood forests and the picturesque cascades contain therein. I love the photo of "nature's waterslide". When I was a kid I would have been very tempted to try out that slide!

And, I agree with you that Sawyer Rock Brook would be an ideal choice for this unnamed brook:)

Hi Rita . . . I’m happy to learn that this time around, you received e-mail notification of my blog posting. Maybe something got fixed behind the scenes??

As always, thank you for your comments, and for being such a faithful follower of my blog.
