Small Winter-Adventures Near My Home in Bethlehem, NH

INTRODUCTION:

It has been well over a month since I posted a report to this blog.  To my loyal readers, I must apologize for being so lackadaisical.  For a variety of reasons, my adventures during the past several weeks have been relatively small, and have been within about a 10-mile radius of my home in Bethlehem, NH (see map below).  These short and local undertakings might be of little interest to some readers.  But nonetheless, presented below are a series of captioned photos which highlight some of my hiking and XC-ski adventures during December 2016 through mid-January 2017.

Map showing the approximate locations for the photos shown below.  Each of these settings were within about a 10-mile radius of my home in Bethlehem, NH.

In early December, I visited an off-trail spot along the Gale River known as "Rock Pool".  It is long-forgotten by most people, but it was once a popular destination for local folks of this area.  It's located about 0.5 mile WSW of the confluence of Gale River and Ammonoosuc River, near the Gordon Memorial Forest in Lisbon, NH.
On its approach to Rock Pool, the Gale River goes through a narrow chute which empties into Rock Pool.
The place known as Rock Pool is seen at far right of photo.

Shown below are photos of four woodland scenes, taken on four different days, at four different locations, within the Beaver Brook XC-Ski Area.

Hi John,

There's nothing wrong with taking a month off between posts—I've been doing this off-and-on for a couple years now.
And,
there's also nothing wrong with your ventures close to home. As a matter of fact, (and as I've said before) I envy the fact that you have so many great venues within a very short drive of your home. What a beautiful part of the country you live in!
And what wonderful photos of your outings over the past several weeks. I always enjoy your posts, no matter how long it is between postings!

Thank you Rita for your comments. Very much appreciated.

Although we live in vastly different parts of the U.S., we are alike in that each of our respective locations has its own special beauty. Similarly, we both take delight in each of our adventures, regardless of whether they are big or small, and our "gusto" is often reflected in our blog postings. I think we’ve been gifted with a gift that keeps giving!
