It, and the Pitcher Plant, are two of my favorite woodland plants. Most likely, the Pitcher Plant was another one that you studied in your college course in plant taxonomy.

John
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541721184143597039.post-31955628615727062902013-07-26T14:48:41.328-04:002013-07-26T14:48:41.328-04:00How did you ever find that ledge—it's just a r...How did you ever find that ledge—it's just a relatively "tiny" rock in a sea of green. I first encountered the plant while taking a plant taxonomy course in college and it's one of my favorites. Very elusive though.

Another fun read, John! One Day in Americahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06908834658716123640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541721184143597039.post-49327960293756753812013-07-24T17:34:11.904-04:002013-07-24T17:34:11.904-04:00Joe, thank you for taking time to read my Blog, an...Joe, thank you for taking time to read my Blog, and for your compliments about the photos.

This is definitely NOT intended to ‘toot my own horn’. It’s merely intended to give you another bushwhacking option when you’re in the general vicinity of Lafayette Brook. Shown below is a link to a Blog report I posted a while ago regarding an off-trail trek to some small ledges on Bickford Mtn and Scarface Mtn. (You’ll need to cut & paste the link into your browser since links aren’t ‘click-able’ in the Comments section of the Blog.)

http://1happyhiker.blogspot.com/2011/04/bickford-and-scarface-now-theres-pair.html

John
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541721184143597039.post-6220776913416372652013-07-24T16:39:54.124-04:002013-07-24T16:39:54.124-04:00Very nice John. Great photos.

After reading a couple of Steve's reports, and now yours on this area, I will probably pay a visit to the Lafayette Brook area when I'm up north for a week in August.

Thanks for sharing,
Joe JustJoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07657236449099527872noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541721184143597039.post-20572623691567303682013-07-24T09:39:46.548-04:002013-07-24T09:39:46.548-04:00Thanks for the kind words Steve!

It was fun, and it was interesting to mentally compare this experience with my past bushwhacks a little further north (in the vicinity of Scarface Mountain) to some small outcroppings which I know you have also visited.

John
1HappyHikerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02242409292439585691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5541721184143597039.post-2029933798239756092013-07-24T07:59:43.217-04:002013-07-24T07:59:43.217-04:00Great report, John, with some interesting zoom sho...Great report, John, with some interesting zoom shots.
